Email theft and email hijacking becomes more and more a problem for todays communication. You might have gotten unsolicited emails advertising software that lets you read other peoples emails. Well the idea isn't new. So called brute force password cracker are around for a long time, but today they are easier to get easier to use and more people use them. I have seen so many recent cases of email theft that it frightens me. Like with most new threats security measures from Internet service providers lag behind, and I don't blame them. Their firewalls get bombarded by multiple other attacks per second. With 3600 seconds in an hour you can imagine how big the log file is by the end of just on day. So it is again up to you to protect yourself. Basically there is no simple protection yet against email theft. We have developed a system to protect your emails and make sure they only get read by you. Because usually you still get your email after somebody read them, it is near to impossible to find out if somebody has broken into your email account. But sending mail is just as big a problem. I don't even have to break into your email account to send an email in your name. This has actually brought many people and companies in trouble. What you can do is install a email certificate. Once installed it verifies that the email sent really came from your computer. It also enables others to send you secure emails through encryption. For more information on encryption you can read last weeks article in our online archive. For a free personal email certificate click on this link. For even more security opt for our custom solution. |
